Struck down – finished – …

It started the past few days. Apparently my daily running took its toll, likewise swimming,… – i am totally finished off. Lower abs cramp sometimes, likewise my legs (despite taking care for saline, magnesium,… input). My arms and shoulders feel so empty, that I barely can push myself up.

Lucky me: today Coach had a +1 day planned – the first for long without anything, nothing, nada,…

Any good advice on how to regenerate perfectly?

  1. Resting is the hardest part for my Type A personality. This is my mid-season rest period.
My coach has me do something moderate active (like today’s 90 min pool run) every other day and I can do stretching or yoga everyday, but nothing too strenuous.
The goal is to have me so rested I am chomping at the bit to get back out on the road or in the water. The rest period does it’s trick and I am energized and ready to go.
I still have this quote in my bedroom from my first 70.3 as a great reminder: “Sooner or later, you start taking yourself seriously. You know when you need a break. You know when you need a rest. You know what to get worked up about and what to get rid of. And you know when it’s time to take care of yourself, for yourself. To do something that makes you stronger, faster, more complete. Because you know it’s never too late to have a life. And never too late to change one.” from the great folks at Nike.
Even though I may not want to rest I still have this quote up by my door in my bedroom so I will not forget:

    • I gotta learn that one. Actually I have a hard time to decide, when it is enough and when not. No matter how stressed it feels – looking in the mirror always makes me want to go on – so much done, only a few more steps, yet it feels more difficult every day.

So *thumbs up* thank you – any advice appreciated.

  2. No words of advice from me. I am sitting here with a swollen ankle and burning quads! I guess we just have to take some time to recover!

    • Ouch Christi!!

You are aware, thaht you are not allowed to fail? Simply because your example on training is one of several which keeps me going.

You are not allowed to take that one from me :)!

Rest, take care for your ankle and make sure you are going for it soon again!

All the best from Germany to you!
